Nursing Entrance Exam Reading Strategy

Read for structure first: identify the topic, the author’s purpose, the role of each paragraph and the evidence supporting the central claim.

Map the passage before answering

After each paragraph, name its job in a few words: introduces a problem, gives evidence, contrasts a view or explains a result. This creates a map you can use without rereading every sentence.

Separate what the passage states from what you already know. Correct inference answers are supported by the text and stay close to its scope.

Review why distractors fail

A distractor may be true but unsupported, too broad, too narrow or based on one detail rather than the central idea. Label the reason each rejected option fails.

Timed practice should come after accurate untimed analysis. Shorten your time gradually while preserving the same evidence-based process.
